About
Cartoons, also known as Cartoons DK, is a Danish Eurodance band recognized for their energetic performances and unique blend of 1950s rockabilly with modern dance music, a style they refer to as “technobilly.” Formed in the late 1990s, the group gained international fame with their 1998 cover of “Witch Doctor,” which reached No. 2 on the UK Singles Chart, and their hit “DooDah!” They are also known for their distinctive stage presence, featuring exaggerated costumes and wigs that parody 1950s American rock and roll icons. The original lineup included Toonie (lead vocals), Sponge (saxophone and keyboards), Shooter (lead guitar), Buzz (double bass), Puddy, and Boop (backing vocals). Despite lineup changes and the passing of members Karina Jensen (Boop) in 2016 and Erling Jensen (Shooter) in 2019, the band has continued to perform, with Sponge remaining as the sole original member as of 2024. Their discography includes albums like “Toonage” (1998) and “Toontastic” (2000), featuring tracks that blend nostalgic sounds with contemporary beats.
