Alexia, born Alessia Aquilani, is one of Italy’s most internationally renowned singers. Since her debut, she has sold over 5 million records worldwide, earning 8 Gold and 2 Platinum certifications.
Her musical journey began in 1995 with the release of her first single, “Me and You,” which topped the charts in Italy and Spain. The following year, she delivered European chart-toppers with “Summer is Crazy,” “Number One,” and “Uh La La La.” In 1997, her debut album, “FAN CLUB,” sold over 600,000 copies, followed by her second album, “The Party,” in 1998, which earned another Platinum certification with over 500,000 copies sold and gained success in England, the United States, and Japan.
In 1999, she released “Happy,” which quickly climbed the charts across Europe. In 2002, she made a significant shift and found renewed success singing in Italian. Her debut appearance at the Sanremo Festival was a triumph, with “Dimmi come” becoming the most played song on Italian radio. The following year, she won the festival with “Per dire di no.”
In 2004, Alexia released the album “Gli Occhi Grandi Della Luna,” featuring prestigious collaborations with Sam Watters, Louis Biancaniello, and Diane Warren. She returned to the Sanremo Festival in 2005 with the song “Da grande” and released the new album of originals, “Ale’,” three years later, featuring a new team of authors, a new producer, and a more rock-oriented sound.
Teaming up with Mario Lavezzi in 2009, she interpreted the song “Biancaneve” at Sanremo, written by Mogol and Lavezzi, included in the album “Ale&c.” (featuring artists like Bloom06 and Madame SìSì). In 2010, she released the album “Stars,” showcasing a diverse range of musical styles, from rock and pop to black and R&B.
In 2013, she unveiled a new single, “Io No,” and the compilation album “iCanzonissime,” featuring covers that had marked her artistic career and were presented on the show “Canzonissima” within Carlo Conti’s program, “I migliori anni.”
In the spring of 2015, with a new look and a heightened artistic awareness, she released the new album of originals, “Tu puoi se vuoi,” where everything feels truly possible; all you need to do is listen. On May 19, 2017, Alexia celebrated her 50th birthday by gifting herself and her fans with a new album of originals set to release in September. The lead single, “Beata gioventú,” which arrived on the radio on her birthday, is an explosion of pure energy dedicated to all ages of life.
