Under the stage name of Dappy, Costadinos Contostavlos has made himself into one of the stars of the British pop music scene and is available for any celebrity endorsement, public appearance or event hosting you should need him for. He is well known for being the lead singer of London based grime, hip-hop, r&b and urban trio N-Dubz (named after the postcode of his hometown in London). Other members in the band include his cousin Tulisa and their buddy Fazer, but Dappy is the most immediately recognizable for his eye-catching headwear, often worn right on the crown of his head at jaunty angles! These hats or woolly chullos are often now referred to as Dappy hats as a result, with the young star frequently turning up one or two of the earflaps on his hat. Dappy has recorded for labels such as Polydor, Def Jam and Island Records and had a total of 8 top 40 hits before the band disbanded, with ‘I Need You’ their biggest success, reaching number 5 in the charts. Dappy is often a guest on radio and TV shows such as BBC Radio 1’s breakfast show, BBC 2’s pop music quiz Never Mind the Buzzcocks and plays festivals like BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend. A lively character with plenty to say, Dappy brings an exciting air of celebrity and youth culture to any event opening, TV show or public engagement in which he involves himself.
